Over a single weekend in November 2023, a team of 12 volunteer veterinarians, 30 community volunteers, and our own foundation team came together to run Jakarta's largest grassroots animal welfare drive to date.
The result: 200 animals vaccinated, 47 sterilized, and 12 rehomed, all free of charge to local residents.
Why Animal Welfare Matters
Indonesia's stray animal population is a quiet crisis. Dogs and cats living without care suffer from preventable diseases and contribute to rabies risk in densely populated areas. Communities often lack the resources or knowledge to address the problem humanely.
Our approach: go into communities, build trust, educate, and act. Not punitive, not removal, but care, treatment, and humane management.

What's Next
We are planning quarterly animal welfare drives across different Jakarta neighbourhoods in 2024. We are also working to establish a permanent low-cost veterinary clinic in partnership with a local vet school.
If you are a veterinarian, vet student, or animal welfare advocate who'd like to volunteer, please get in touch.
