Lokal Indonesia Artisan Market 2024: A Celebration of Indonesian Craft

The atmosphere was electric from the moment the gates opened. Over 10,000 visitors passed through the halls of the Lokal Indonesia Artisan Market 2024, our largest event to date, and every one of them left with something special.

Spread across two days at Menara Sun Life in South Jakarta, the market featured over 80 artisan vendors from across the archipelago. From intricate Javanese batik to Torajan carved woodwork, from Balinese silver jewellery to NTT hand-woven ikat textiles, the market was a living museum of Indonesian craft.

What Made 2024 Special

This year marked a significant milestone: we welcomed our first international buyers from Singapore, the Netherlands, and Australia, all drawn by word of mouth and our growing reputation for quality curation.

The community atmosphere was palpable. Artisans spoke with visitors about their techniques, their villages, and the stories behind each piece. Children watched weaving demonstrations. Couples deliberated over which piece to take home. An elderly vendor from Solo sold out her entire booth by noon.

By the Numbers

  • 80+ artisan vendors
  • 10,000+ visitors
  • 3 international buyer groups
  • 100% of vendors reported positive experience

Looking Ahead

Following the success of 2024, we are already planning Lokal Indonesia 2025 and 2026, with expanded venues and new city partnerships in Surabaya and Bandung.

We are grateful to every visitor, vendor, partner, and volunteer who makes these markets possible. Together, we are building something lasting.
